The Legislative Analyst's Office (LAO) is seeking candidates for the position of Information Systems Analyst to provide desktop and systems support.
This position is in the office’s Information Services section. The Information Services section provides system, software, and production support for the office. This includes desktop and server administration, software development, graphic design, and website management. As part of a small team, members of the Information Services section need to develop and apply a broad set of technical and organizational skills to meet the needs of the office.
Under the direction of the Manager of Information Services, the Information Systems Analyst provides general information technology support for the office, primarily in the following areas:
Working with all staff, the Information Technology Specialist should be personable, service-oriented, and flexible. Additionally, the Information Technology Specialist should have strong written and oral communication, be able to work independently to track and meet deadlines, and be dedicated to continuous learning.
A Bachelor's degree is preferred, but not required.
Applicants should have experience supporting the following:
Experience administering some of the following is preferable: Active Directory, Windows Server, Linux, Microsoft SQL Server, Symantec BackupExec, Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), Adobe Creative Suite or Create Cloud, network services
The Information Technology Specialist salary range begins at $5,720 per month. The office will consider salaries above this amount depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience.
The LAO provides a comprehensive package of health, vision, dental, and retirement benefits. In addition, the LAO provides vacation, sick leave, compensatory time off for overtime above a specified level, and about 13 holidays per year.
The office may consider a less-than-full-time appointment, such as a 75 or 80 percent time base, as long as the candidate’s work hours and schedule meet the needs of the office.
The LAO has served the Legislature and the people of California since 1941. The office currently employs 53 staff. Staff of the LAO are hired and promoted on a merit basis and are exempt from civil service. The LAO enjoys a national reputation for the quality and nonpartisanship of its analyses and staff.
