Go Back  Department of Parks and Recreation Governor's proposal to fund state parks with Tranquillon Ridge oil and gas lease revenues. Legislature should evaluate Tranquillon Ridge project on its merits, rather than as an opportunity to fund state parks. On balance, the project merits legislative approval. If the Legislature approves the project, it should maintain flexibility in the potential use of revenues, instead of dedicating the revenues for state park purposes. 1-22-10

Detailed Narrative

At the January 21, 2010 hearing of the Senate Budget and Fiscal Review Committee, we submitted a handout on the Governor's Tranquillon Ridge proposal. In the handout, we summarized the Governor's proposal, including the proposed use of revenues from the project; discuss the key policy issues raised by the project; evaluate the reasonableness of the Governor's revenue assumptions; and make recommendations.
