How CalFire is Spending Recent Forest Health Funds

Feb 21, 2023 - For exampl e, the Washington Ridge Conservation Camp in Nevada City has capacity for 100 but currently houses only 52 people. The  current overall 50  percent occupancy rate at CalFire ‑managed conservation camps together with projections for further declines in the state prison population call into question whether all of the remaining camps are needed or whether some additional closures may be appropriate in the coming years.
