Los Angeles' Bid for the 2024 Olympics and Paralympics

Nov 10, 2016 - Boston originally was chosen by the USOC over Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C. to be the U.S. bid city for the 2024 Games. Community concerns about potential cost overruns plagued the Boston bid, and that city withdrew from the process on July 27, 2015.

Jul 6, 2017 - Significant Efforts Needed to Meet Games Transportation Goals. The IOC report opines that Los Angeles will face challenges in meeting its goal of all Olympic spectators using public transportation. The report notes, in particular, limited public transport capacity to the Games ’ Carson (South Bay) and San Fernando Valley locations.

Mar 6, 2026 - The MVA ’s primary source of revenue is from vehicle registration fees, as well as —to a lesser degree —from driver ’s license and identification card fees. CHP receives roughly 60  percent of the MVA revenues ($3  billion) annually, with most of the remainder supporting activities at the Department of Motor Vehicles.

The 2026-27 Budget: Office of Emergency Services Next Generation 911 System

Feb 27, 2026 - After these dispatch centers have been migrated, OES will focus on deploying Next Generation 911 services to the Los  Angeles area, to help prepare for the 2028  Olympic and Paralympic games. In addition to these priorities, up to 20 other dispatch centers (those in most urgent need) will also be moved onto the statewide network.
