The 2026-27 Budget: California Highway Patrol Proposals

The 2026-27 Budget: Office of Emergency Services Next Generation 911 System

Feb 27, 2026 - Third, OES awarded the five ‑year contracts that would begin the actual building and deployment of a Next Generation 911 system in this same year. Legacy 911 and Next Generation 911 were to work in parallel until dispatch centers could be transitioned to the new system —at which point the legacy system would be largely decommissioned.

The 2026-27 Budget: Contract to Achieve Operational Efficiencies

Mar 10, 2026 - The 2025-26 budget included up to $20  million for DOF to enter into one or more new contracts to implement process improvements that allow the state to reduce costs. In June 2025, the administration estimated that this endeavor would result in annual General Fund savings of $500  million in 2025-26, growing to roughly $2  billion General Fund annually by 2028-29.

Feb 11, 2026 - Recommendation Provide Funding on a Three-year, Limited-Term Basis and Require Workload Report. We recommend that the Legislature approve the proposed funding on only a three-year, limited-term basis, as it has done in past years when the panel ’s resource needs were not known.
