Feb 26, 2026 - Faculty FTE increased by 1.5  percent annually over the past decade, contributing to an increase in the student ‑to ‑faculty ratio from 14.0 to 14.6. Though UC ’s workforce grew notably over much of the past ten years, UC implemented a systemwide hiring freeze beginning April 1, 2025.

The 2026-27 Budget: California Education Learning Lab

Mar 25, 2026 - (This is $1.5  million less than Learning Lab received in 2025-26.) The administration has indicated that its reason for proposing to retain the program is because it provides tailored grant opportunities to stimulate faculty-led innovations in areas aligned with state priorities.

The 2026-27 Budget: Community College Facilities

Mar 17, 2026 - In the November 2024 election, voters approved Proposition  2, a state general obligation bond that provides $1.5  billion for community college facilities. (The measure also provides $8.5  billion for K-12 school facilities.)
