The 2020-21 Spending Plan: Transportation

Oct 5, 2020 - The budget includes $16  million on an ongoing basis from Proposition  1A (2008) to support 85 new state staff positions in areas such as information technology (IT), project delivery, and finance. The new state staff positions are expected to replace 103 consultant positions that cost HSRA roughly $34  million annually, thus resulting in nearly $18  million in annual savings.

Feb 10, 2020 - According to Caltrans, pedestrians and bicyclists made up 21  p ercent of all fatalities on the SHS between 2008 and 2017. Across all highways and roads in California, pedestrians and bicyclists made up approximately 29  p ercent of the fatalities in 2018.
