The 2022-23 Budget: Vote by Mail Ballots: Prepaid Postage

May 13, 2022 - Chapter 120 of 2018 (AB 216, Gonzalez Fletcher) requires elections officials to include on the return envelope prepaid postage so that the voter does not pay for USPS to deliver the ballot to the elections official.

Improving Legislative Oversight of Emergency Authorities

Apr 10, 2025 - Initially, the use of DREOA for each emergency is limited to 120  days following the Governor ’s declaration of the emergency. However, the Governor can extend the use of DREOA for emergency ‑related activities in 120 ‑day increments —even if the proclaimed state of emergency has ended.

The 2025-26 Budget: Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development

Mar 18, 2025 - Since the Governor ’s proposal would provide $60  million for grants, compared to $120  million in prior iterations, the cap on individual awards would be $18  million, down from $36  million. There have been several grant awards made previously in excess of this amount.

Sep 23, 2021 - Creates New $120  Million California Competes Grant Program. The budget provides $120  million General Fund for a new California Competes Grant Program. This grant program will be similar to the tax credit program described above, except that qualified applicants will be able to indicate that they would prefer a grant to a tax credit.
