The 2023-24 Budget: County of Los Angeles Citizens Redistricting Commission Mandate

May 2, 2023 - One exception to this was the County of San Diego which requested a 2012 law (Chapter  508 [SB  1331, Kehoe]) that established its own independent redistricting commission. Subsequently, with the passage of Chapter  784 of 2016 (SB  1108, Allen), existing law now allows any county or general law city to establish an independent redistricting commission.

Apr 5, 2022 - The period of 2012 through 2015 represents the state ’s four driest consecutive years on record in terms of statewide precipitation, and 2021 is the third driest single year. Moreover, 2022 already experienced the driest consecutive January and February in the Sierra Nevada, based on records dating back over 100 years.
