Elections and the initiative process. [Ballot]

Mar 23, 2026 - Of this new revenue each year, (1) $40  million would be transferred to the state General Fund; (2)  of the remaining amount, hundreds of millions of dollars would pay for county and state elections administration costs; and (3)  all of the remaining billions of dollars would be used to supplement compensation earned by specified state and local government employees for their work related to the citizen initiative process.

Oct 7, 2025 - In most years, the state must allocate nearly 40  percent of General Fund revenue to meet this requirement. Schools pay for most of their general operating expenses (including teacher salaries, books, and supplies) using these funds.

Aug 22, 2023 - These include a state law requiring statewide GHG emissions to be limited to 40  percent below 1990 levels by 2030. GHGs include gases such as carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide. Landfills produce methane emissions when organic waste —such as food scraps, wood, and paper —decompose.

Sep 1, 2023 - The state updated the limit in 2016 to 40  percent below 1990 levels by 2030, and further reduced it in 2022 to an objective of at least 85  percent below 1990 emissions levels by 2045. Emissions will need to decline much faster than historical trends in order to meet these goals.

Dec 27, 2021 - The state has several goals related to reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and local air pollution, including state law that requires statewide GHGs are 40  percent below 1990 levels by 2030. To help achieve these goals, the state has a variety of programs meant to promote the adoption of ZEVs, which are generally defined to include battery-electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.
