Dec 29, 2025 - Census (these new maps would first be used in the 2032 congressional elections). This would effectively mean that the Proposition  50 maps would only be used in 2026 and then be replaced beginning in 2028.

Nov 5, 2021 - The measure would establish a 0.75 percent tax on individuals with incomes over $5 million for the ten-year period of 2023 through 2032. The revenues generated by the tax would be deposited into new special funds and dedicated entirely to a newly established institute and two other allowable purposes, all related to pandemic detection, prevention, and mitigation.

May 15, 2025 - Chapter 32 of 2020 (AB 1460, Weber) requires CSU undergraduates to complete a three-unit ethnic studies course to graduate. The ethnic studies course could not increase the total n umber of units required to graduate.

Nov 4, 2021 - Under recently enacted legislation, Chapter 312 of 2021 (AB 37, Berman), all voters in California receive a vote by mail (VBM) ballot. Voters can choose to vote by filling out and putting their VBM ballot in the mail, dropping the VBM ballot off at a ballot drop off location, or casting a ballot in person at a voting location.

Sep 28, 2021 - In 2012, the Legislature approved Chapter 296 (Furutani, AB 340), referred to as PEPRA. This legislation made a number of changes to state law intended to reduce future costs of pension benefits, including reducing pension benefits for state and local government employees hired after 2013 and establishing a standard that employees contribute one-half of the normal cost.
