If the commission were to find that some activities required by the permits constitute state ‑reimbursable mandates, the Legislature may receive additional proposals to reimburse those costs in future budgets.

Apr 5, 2022 - Poor air quality also has been linked to a wide variety of adverse health effects, including increased risk of asthma, cardiovascular disease, cognitive impairment, and premature births. While overall health effects from wildfire smoke still are being studied, a rough estimate suggests wildfire smoke in 2020 caused about 20 deaths per 100,000 adults over the age of 65.
