2016 Data on Crime in California

Oct 17, 2017 - Recently, the FBI released data on crime in 2016. These data likely underestimate the total number of crimes that have actually occurred. This is because they do not include unreported crime, and some reported crimes —including all drug crime —are excluded.

Newly Identified Mandate: Crime Statistics Reports for the Department of Justice (DOJ)

May 2, 2012 - The DOJ is responsible for collecting hate crime and homicide statistics from local law enforcement agencies and reporting that information to the Federal Bureau of Investigation ( FBI). According to the California Emergency Management Agency (CalEMA) which administers some federal criminal justice grant funds, failure to report complete hate crime and homici de statistics to the FBI may jeopardize some of the state ’s allocation of these federal funds.
