Dec 4, 2019 - Funding for Homeless Housing Projects. In recent years, the state has authorized funding for local governments to address housing and homelessness. For example, in 2019, the state provided about $650  million in one-time grants to local governments to fund a variety of programs and services that address homelessness.

Nov 6, 2018 - A portion of housing units built with state funds is set aside for homeless Californians. While the state historically has not provided ongoing funding for these housing programs, California receives approximately $2  billion annually from the federal government to support these projects.

Proposition 2 [Ballot]

Nov 6, 2018 - In 2016, the Legislature created the No Place Like Home program to build and rehabilitate housing for those with mental illness who are homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless. The state plans to pay for this housing by borrowing up to $2  billion.
