Personnel Specialist staffing ratios

Apr 17, 2012 - The project cost the state $166 milli on to develop and deploy. In the BIS project documents, CDCR indicated the project would improve its human resources management. We estimate that if the current staffing ratios were adjusted to reflect those of other large state departments, the CDCR budget could be reduced by $13.1 million and 180 positio ns in the budget year, creating substantial ongoing savings for the state.

Reject the $500,000 augmentation for the outreach and communications contract. In our report, we recommend not funding any contracts until HSRA has renegotiated the terms of the project with the federal government and reevaluated how to proceed based on criteria that considers, in part, the state ’s best interests.

Funding for Clark v. California compliance monitoring and training

Apr 18, 2012 - According to the department, these resources are needed to ensure that the state is fulfilling the court-approved remedial plan. Of this proposed funding, $1.8 million would be used to hire 12 additional headquarters staff to conduct reviews of each of the state ’s prisons to assess whether inmates with developmental disabilities are being provided appropriate accommodations in accordance with the remedial plan.

April income tax collections on track to be $300 million above projections
