2018-19 Budget: Voting Equipment for Counties

Mar 16, 2018 - In total, about 58  percent of the 14.6  million ballots cast in the November election in California were VBM ballots. The share of voters casting VBM ballots in that election varied across the state from fewer than one-half of voters casting their ballots by mail in Los Angeles, Lassen, and Merced Counties to more than 90  percent of registered voters voting by mail in Napa, Alpine, Plumas, and Sierra Counties.

May 1, 1990 - In 1989 the Legislature enacted legislation (58 726, L. Greene) to continue the state low-income housing tax credit program as long as a related federal program exists. That legislation also requires the Legislative Analyst's Office to evaluate the effectiveness of this program. This policy brief provides the evaluation, and makes recommendations for changes to improve the program's effectiveness.

May 28, 2024 - In addition, Chapter  335 expanded the required consultation with counsel to apply to arrested youths who are age 16 or 17. Commission Determined Chapter  335 Created a State-Reimbursable Mandate. The Commission found that Chapter  335 ’s requirements to provide access to legal counsel for arrested youths age 16 and 17 created a state-reimbursable mandate by imposing new state-mandated activities and costs on local governments.
