Improving California’s Prison Inmate Classification System

May 2, 2019 - Inmates are generally only assigned Minimum B Custody if they are placed in a program that requires them to live outside the main security perimeter of a prison, such as a con servation camp. Figure  8 shows the breakdown of the inmate population by custody designation.
