Mar 25, 2026 - Proposal Governor Proposes to Provide General Fund Appropriation for BPPE in 2025-26. The Governor ’s budget provides a $10  million one-time General Fund appropriation for BPPE in 2025-26 (to be implemented through the next round of amendments to the 2025-26 Budget Act ).

The 2026-27 Budget: Child Care and State Preschool

Mar 19, 2026 - The Governor’s budget proposes to reduce funding for General Child Care slots by $98 million relative to the 2025‑26 budget package. These reductions are mainly due to a decline in federal and Proposition 64 funding in 2025‑26 and 2026‑27 and would eliminate funding for approximately 4,200 slots.

Feb 26, 2026 - Current LAO Estimate for 2025-26: $648 Million. We currently project cannabis tax revenues of $648 million in 2025-26. This is $36 million above the January Governor ’s Budget forecast for 2025-26. As shown in the figure below, the resulting 2026-27 revenue allocations are somewhat higher than the administration ’s January projections.
