Feb 27, 2026 - The additional amount that would be needed depends on many different variables, including: (1)  the extent to which the state is able to incorporate the existing Next Generation 911  components deployed under the regional approach, (2)  how quickly it can decommission the legacy 911 system, (3)  the cost of the interim contract and solutions, and (4)  the time (and cost) of building out and deploying the new statewide  system.

Improving Legislative Oversight of Emergency Authorities

Apr 10, 2025 - The Legislature could require that the Governor renew each state of emergency separately at specific intervals of time, such as every 30 to 120 days, until the emergency is terminated. Alternatively, the Legislature could require that the Governor renew each state of emergency initially after a period of time, such as 30 to 120 days, with the initial renewal being required to specify when the state of emergency will be terminated or reviewed  again.

The 2025-26 Budget: Department of Real Estate

Mar 19, 2025 - More than 425,000 persons in California were licensed by DRE as of June 30, 2024. Almost All DRE Funding Comes From the State Real Estate Fund. The revised 2024-25 budget includes $67  million and 384 positions for the operation of DRE, with nearly all of the funding coming from the Real Estate Fund.
