An Initial Look at Effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Local Government Fiscal Condition

May 12, 2021 - The median county received federal funding representing 24 p ercent of 2018 ‑ 19 l ocal revenues, while the median cities received about 14 p ercent of 2018 ‑ 19 r evenues. Further, whereas the top quartile of counties received federal funds that represented at least 31 p ercent of 2018 ‑ 19 r evenues, the top quartile of cities received federal funds that represented at least 20 p ercent of 2018 ‑ 19 r evenues.

Climate Change Impacts Across California - Crosscutting Issues

Apr 5, 2022 - A  2018   report  by the State Coastal Conservancy and The Nature Conservancy found that 55 percent of California’s existing coastal habitats are highly vulnerable to five feet of sea‑level rise, including 60 percent of the state’s iconic beaches and 58 percent of its marshes.

How Has COVID-19 Affected Renters and Homeowners?

Jan 19, 2021 - Mindful of this, our office collaborated with researchers at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia to adjust key assumptions about ( 1)  r enter nonhousing costs, ( 2)  r enter savings rates, and ( 3)  s tatewide UI benefit amounts in their model to more accurately reflect economic conditions and policies in California.
