An Initial Look at Effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Local Government Fiscal Condition

May 12, 2021 - The median county received federal funding representing 24 p ercent of 2018 ‑ 19 l ocal revenues, while the median cities received about 14 p ercent of 2018 ‑ 19 r evenues. Further, whereas the top quartile of counties received federal funds that represented at least 31 p ercent of 2018 ‑ 19 r evenues, the top quartile of cities received federal funds that represented at least 20 p ercent of 2018 ‑ 19 r evenues.

Climate Change Impacts Across California - Crosscutting Issues

Apr 5, 2022 - For example, K ‑12 schools and child care providers will increasingly be impacted by disasters such as wildfires and floods interrupting their ability to offer in ‑person educational services. More frequent school closures will cause disruptions to instruction, school meals, and child care —leading to a greater risk of food insecurity, learning loss, and poorer academic outcomes for impacted students, as well as impairing their parents ’ ability to work.
