The most common pathway to becoming a credentialed teacher in California is for an individual to obtain a bachelor ’s degree, demonstrate basic proficiency (and sometimes subject matter competency), and then enter a one ‑year postbaccalaureate teacher preparation program at a CTC ‑accredited institution.
