Feb 22, 2022 - According  to the administration, its proposal is intended to emulate that of Head Start, which requires that 10  percent of slots be set aside for children with disabilities. Given Head Start already has a similar requirement, and given the lower rates in State Preschool, we think the 10  percent requirement proposed by the Governor is a reasonable starting place for setting expectations for providers.

Mar 19, 2026 - The hold harmless is set to expire June 30, 2026. Funding increases for State Preschool in 2021‑22 and 2022‑23 were primarily due to rate increases. In 2023‑24 and 2024‑25, the state made one‑time reductions to the program in recognition that funding provided exceeded the amount necessary to fund all State Preschool contracts.
