Jul 11, 2025 - Control Section 3.90 of the 2025-26 budget (as added by Chapter 5 of 2025 [AB 102, Gabriel]) established an expectation of the Legislature that all 21 of the state’s bargaining units would meet and confer in good faith with the administration before July 1, 2025 to achieve savings assumed in the budget.

Revisiting the Unemployment Insurance Trust Fund Insolvency

Sep 30, 2016 - Adding this payment to previous interest payments, the state has spent a total of almost $1.4  billion in General Fund resources servicing the federal loan since the beginning of the recession. The state is estimated to make additional interest payments of $52  million in 2017 and $17  million in 2018 before the loan is projected to be fully repaid in 2018, as shown in Figure  2 below.
