The 2025-26 California Spending Plan: Child Care and State Preschool

The budget includes a total of $9.8  million in funding and authority for 41 new child care related positions at the Department of Social Services (DSS). Of the total, $6.4  million in federal funding and 29 positions are provided to support a variety of activities, including maintaining compliance with federal rules and administrative functions of the Child Care and Development Division.
