The 2026-27 Budget: Computer Science Supplementary Authorization

Mar 6, 2026 - The 2021-22 budget included $15  million one-time Proposition  98 General Fund for Computer Science Supplementary Authorization Incentive Grants. These funds are intended to support teachers who are pursuing computer science supplementary authorizations that allow them to teach computer science classes.

Feb 4, 2026 - Trailer legislation scheduled the payment for 2014 ‑15 (later changed to 2015 ‑16). In October 2010, the state recognized a $1.8  billion increase to its previous estimate of the 2009 ‑10 guarantee. It made an initial payment of $300  million but did not schedule any future payments.

Feb 19, 2026 - Additionally, suspension rates for Cohort 1 grantees declined by 15  percent more (0.52  percentage points) than similar schools. The improvement in student outcomes was reported across student subgroups, however, the improvements were shown to be most significant for Black students, English learners, and socioeconomically disadvantaged students.

Jan 6, 2026 - Test   1 —the most commonly used test over the past 15 years —is based on a share of General Fund revenue and is unaffected by attendance. For  Test  2 and Test 3, the state applies the percentage change in ADA to the prior year ’s funding level, along with an inflation adjustment.

Early Budget Actions to Support In-Person K-12 Instruction and Address Learning Loss

Apr 23, 2021 - An LEA ’s funding allocation is reduced by 1  percent for each day between April 1 and May 15, 2021 that the in-person instruction requirements are not met. LEAs that do not offer in-person instruction on or before May 15, 2021 will not receive any funding.
