Nov 17, 2023 - The alternative methodology would be based on a new cost study and cost estimation model. We understand that the cost study and model would consider costs to comp ly with program requirements (such as health and safety standards, staffing requirements, and licensing requirements), provide high-quality care, and provide higher compensation to staff relative to current levels.

The 2021-22 Budget: Child Care Proposals

Feb 11, 2021 - The Center for the Study of Child Care Employment conducted a survey of 953 California child care providers at the end of June 2020. The vast majority of child care providers reported they were serving fewer children compared to before the pandemic and 77  p ercent of open providers reported they experienced a loss of income from families.

May 14, 2020 - Specifically, the executive order states that districts should ( 1) provide educational opportunities for students through distance learning or independent study, (2)  provide school meals to students in non-congregate settings, (3) continue to pay employees, and (4)  arrange for the supervision of students during the school day (to the extent practicable).

Apr 7, 2016 - Some studies suggest that children fare better when placed in programs that meet recognized developmental standards. The credit could be limited to programs that meet developmental standards. Alternatively, the Legislature could offer a larger credit to families participating in these programs.
