What Is the Adult Education Block Grant?

Jan 6, 2016 - Chapter 13 of 2015 (AB 104, Committee on Budget), created the Adult Education Block Grant (AEBG). The 2015-16 Budget Act provided $500 million in ongoing Proposition 98 funding for the block grant. The state provided this funding to further a restructuring of adult education services begun in 2013.

The Governor links these base increases to CSU and UC meeting three expectations: (1)  developing a plan to eliminate their achievement gaps by 2025, (2)  permanently increasing the share of courses they offer online by at least 10

The 2016-17 Budget: Higher Education Analysis

Feb 26, 2016 - In 2014 –15 , more than 450 attendees from 104 colleges and 22 district offices attended six regional workshops on using the indicators and setting local performance goals. More than 100 subject –matter experts volunteered to participate in partnership resource teams, and the initiative deployed 46 of them in eight teams averaging six members each.

California Community Colleges—Managing Cash in a Time of State Payment Deferrals

Dec 18, 2020 - The state began using payment deferrals during the dot ‑com bust but relied much more heavily on them during the Great Recession. The practice of deferring college payments peaked in 2011 ‑12, when the state deferred a total of $ 961  m illion in CCC payments —accounting for nearly 30  p ercent of CCC Proposition  98 General Fund support.
