Feb 23, 2026 - A somewhat similar problem arose in 2006, when the Legislature and the administration started to redirect tobacco tax revenues to support the Tobacco Licensing Program. At the time, some argued that this was justified because those tobacco tax funds derive benefits from the enforcement provided by the Licensing Program.
