The 2019-20 Budget: Overview of the Governor's Budget

Jan 14, 2019 - Governor Proposes $600   Million for Various Proposals to Address Homelessness. The Governor ’s budget also includes a variety of proposals to address homelessness. Dedicating significant one ‑time resources to homelessness is consistent with the 2018 ‑ 19 b udget package, which included $ 500  m illion in local government grants for homelessness services.

The 2023-24 Budget: California Volunteers Proposed Program Expansions

Mar 1, 2023 - Federal law requires that 75  percent of these funds go to programs targeting out ‑of ‑school youth ages 16 ‑ to 24 ‑years old —including individuals who have dropped out of school, who have been justice ‑involved, who are or have been in the foster care system, or who are homeless —and that 20  percent be used specifically to support work experience, such as for stipends, paid internships, and wages.

The 2021-22 Budget: Initial Comments on the Governor’s May Revision

May 17, 2021 - In addition, the Governor proposes allocating nearly $5  billion to housing and homelessness and $3.6  billion to higher education. However, the administration also proposes control section language that would give the administration significant flexibility to reallocate these funds.
