Mar 25, 2026 - As Figure  1 shows, Learning Lab ’s ongoing funding has fluctuated somewhat over time. In 2024-25, the state reduced Learning Lab ’s ongoing General Fund to $5.5  million. Additionally, in 2024-25, the state restructured OPR and split it into two new offices: the Governor ’s Office of Service and Community Engagement and the Office of Land Use and Climate Innovation (LCI).

The 2026-27 Budget: Child Care and State Preschool

Mar 19, 2026 - The state provides families with subsidized child care through various child care and development programs ( Figure  1 ). Most  of the state ’s subsidized child care is administered by DSS through three programs: (1)  California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs) child care, (2)  the California Alternative Payment Program (CAPP), and (3)  the General Child Care program.

The 2026-27 Budget: Governor’s Office of Land Use and Climate Innovation Proposals

Mar 19, 2026 - Figure  1 provides a breakdown of the proposals. As shown, the funding request includes $10.5  million ongoing to support IT, administrative, legislative, and land policy staff and activities. For implementing various statutory responsibilities, the Governor proposes $741,000 in 2026-27, $1.7  million in 2027-28, $1.5  million from 2028-29 through 2031-32, and $522,000 ongoing thereafter.
