Jan 13, 2025 - These solutions yielded General Fund savings of $11  billion through 2025 ‑26. The Governor ’s budget reduces this amount by $1.3  billion through 2025 ‑26. The reason for the reduction is the recent voter approval of Proposition  35 (2024), which requires the state to spend less MCO tax money on offsetting General Fund spending and more money on provider rate increases.

Mar 10, 2023 - Based on expenditure reports that cover spending through December 31, 2022, roughly $11  billion (55  percent) of ESSER funding from the second and third rounds remains unspent. This reflects roughly $1.4  billion available from ESSER II (available until September 2023) and $9.5  billion from ESSER III (available until September 2024).

Charter Schools Can Be “Directly Funded ” or “Locally Funded. ” When a charter school is authorized, they can elect to receive their state funding in one of two ways: (1)  from the county treasurer in which their authorizer operates (directly  funded) or (2)  from its authorizer (locally  funded).
