Mar 6, 2025 - Social workers employed by county welfare departments conduct an in-home assessment of an individual ’s needs in order to determine the amount and type of service hours to be provided. In most cases, the recipient is responsible for hiring and supervising a paid IHSS provider —oftentimes a family member or relative.
