The 2023-24 Budget: Proposed Reauthorization of AB 8 Vehicle Fees

Feb 24, 2023 - For instance, Chapter  249 of 2016 (S B  32 ,  Pavley) updated the state ’s GHG reduction limit from 1990  levels by 2020 to 40  percent below 1990  levels by 2030. Chapter  337 of 2022 (A B  1279 , Muratsuchi) requires the state to achieve net ‑zero GHG emissions by 2045.

The 2025-26 California Spending Plan: Transportation

Oct 16, 2025 - (Earlier budget language —Chapter  5 of 2025 [AB  102, Gabriel] had authorized DOF to provide a $750  million loan to these agencies contingent on subsequent legislation, which was never enacted.) Chapter  104 requires DOF to complete this examination by January 10, 2026, and to include any proposal it develops in the Governor ’s January 2026-27 budget.
