The 2025-26 Budget: Overview of the Governor's Budget

Jan 13, 2025 - Some of the largest spending augmentations proposed include: (1) $60  million to provide additional grants under the Cal Competes program; (2)  the intent to partially restore an ongoing reduction to the trial courts, which, if enacted, would cost $42  million ongoing; and (3)  the Governor ’s proposed expansion to College Corps, which would cost $5  million in 2025 ‑26, but grow to $84  million  ongoing.

Data Match Increases Veterans' Access to Benefits and Reduces State Costs [Publication Details]

Feb 21, 2007 - We estimate a shift of veterans from Medi-Cal to the federal Veterans Administration (V.A.) health system could save the state up to $250 million annually, while providing those veterans with quality health care services. We recommend that California join 42 other states participating in a federal data matching process that would facilitate achieving these goals.

Apr 27, 2018 - Of the approximately 1,100 SNFs statewide, 465 SNFs (42  percent) do not meet the minimum CNA hours requirement. We estimate that these SNFs will need to hire between 1,700 and 2,400 additional CNAs to meet the requirement, increasing the total number of CNAs currently working in SNFs statewide by between 5  percent and 7.5  percent.

Nov 28, 2016 - An analysis by the Kaiser Family Foundation found that 42  percent of all LTSS spending in 2010 was for the senior population. Informal, Unpaid Care Also an Important Part of LTSS. In addition to paid LTSS, a large amount of LTSS is provided through informal, unpaid care.
