Feb 14, 2023 - Additional Requirements for TK Teachers Scheduled to Take Effect Next year. In addition to an elementary teaching credential, TK teachers will be required —starting August 2023 —to have either 24 units in early childhood education and/or child development, a child development permit, an early childhood education specialist credential, or comparable experience in a classroom setting with preschool ‑aged children.
