The 2021-22 Budget: Public School Restrooms Feminine Hygiene Products Mandate

Mar 1, 2021 - In May 2019, the Commission found that requirements added by Chapter   687 o f 2017 (A B  10 , C. Garcia) impose a reimbursable state ‑mandated program, beginning January 1, 2018. The mandate requires certain schools to stock 50  p ercent of restrooms with feminine hygiene products (defined as tampons and sanitary napkins) at all times at no cost to students.

The 2025-26 Budget: California State University

Feb 25, 2025 - Though the number of students shifted from self‑ to state‑supported courses is smaller in 2024‑25 compared to 2023‑24 (745 FTE students shifted in summer 2024 compared to 4,705 FTE students shifted the previous summer), the effect is still not adding new students but adding new state costs from shifting students formerly in self‑supported courses into state‑supported ones.

Recognizing that all IT projects entail risks, first connecting K ‑12 data with data from the state ’s three public higher education segments, as proposed by the Governor, likely would be the most straightforward technical process, with considerable added value.

The 2022-23 Budget: California College Guidance Initiative

Feb 22, 2022 - The proposed augmentation brings total ongoing CCGI funding to $16.6  million, with 294 districts that still need to be added to the platform. CCGI initially estimated the cost of fully scaling operations between $18  million and $20  million, but given the large number of districts that have yet to be added to the platform, we remain uncertain about the long ‑term costs for fully scaling CCGI.
