Feb 25, 2025 - CDCR needs 341  MHCBs systemwide in 2025 ‑26, but it is proposing to operate 449   MHCBs —an excess of 109 MHCBs (84 at men ’s prisons and 25  at women ’s prisons). Furthermore, CDCR ’s MHCB needs are projected to decline by 25  additional beds by June of 2029.
