This year, these local agencies will educate nearly 5.8  million students, employ around 700,000 teachers and staff, and spend nearly $150  billion.

Feb 4, 2026 - It made an initial payment of $300  million but did not schedule any future payments. It paid the remaining amount over the 2015 ‑16 through 2018 ‑19 period. Most recently, the June 2025 budget recognized an increase in the 2024 ‑25 guarantee but set school funding $1.9  billion below the revised estimate.

Jan 13, 2025 - Increases Revenue by Around $300   Million. The Governor ’s budget proposes to change the rules about how taxable profits are determined for financial institutions. The administration estimates this change would increase revenues on an ongoing basis by around $300  million per year.

The 2025-26 Budget: Transitional Kindergarten

Feb 18, 2025 - In 2022 ‑23, an additional $300  million was provided for these  purposes. Teacher Support ($100   Million). In 2021 ‑22, the state provided $100  million Proposition  98 General Fund for a competitive grant that LEAs could use to increase the number of highly qualified State Preschool and TK  teachers.
