Feb 24, 2026 - The total marginal cost (state and student shares combined) of increasing resident undergraduate enrollment by 1  percent in 2026 ‑27 is $58  million. Provide more funding for student financial aid. Specifically, CSU plans to designate $67  million for this purpose.

The 2026-27 Budget: Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education

Mar 25, 2026 - In 2025, BPPE incurred $10  million in costs associated with an employment lawsuit, consisting of a $4  million jury award to the plaintiff and $6  million in plaintiff ’s attorney fees. To cover these costs, DCA issued a $10  million loan to the BPPE Fund from the Bureau of Automotive Repair ’s High Polluter Repair or Removal Account in December 2025.

Jan 30, 2024 - The Governor ’s proposed funding delays for UC and CSU contribute to those deficits. Specifically, as Figure  5 shows, they add $1.5  billion in costs in 2025 ‑ 26 —consisting of $499  million in one ‑time back payments and a $1  billion ongoing General Fund augmentation.

Feb 26, 2026 - As Figure  6 shows, UC core fund balances as a share of its annual core fund expenditures have been as low as 1.8  percent in 2008 ‑09 and as high as 23  percent in 2012 ‑13. UC reserves dropped notably at the onset of the Great Recession.

Update on Community College Reserves

Jan 27, 2021 - All but 1 of the 15 districts reported having a local unrestricted reserve policy. Two of the 15 districts had a local policy of holding unrestricted reserves of 5  percent of annual unrestricted expenditures, the same as the Chancellor ’s Office ’s systemwide guidance.

An Analysis of the University of California’s Agricultural and Natural Resource Programs

Jan 6, 2022 - UC has Cooperative Extension offices in 57 of the state ’s 58 counties, with multiple offices in some counties (Figure  3). UC ANR typically leases these offices from county governments. UC ANR also owns and manages nine sites known as “Research and Extension Centers. ” These centers support specialized applied research and host outreach activities.

Mar 25, 2026 - As Figure  1 shows, Learning Lab ’s ongoing funding has fluctuated somewhat over time. In 2024-25, the state reduced Learning Lab ’s ongoing General Fund to $5.5  million. Additionally, in 2024-25, the state restructured OPR and split it into two new offices: the Governor ’s Office of Service and Community Engagement and the Office of Land Use and Climate Innovation (LCI).
