The 2024-25 Budget: Initial Comments on the Governor’s May Revision

May 17, 2024 - The May Revision also includes about $5  billion in ongoing spending reductions in 2024-25, which grow to roughly $8  billion over time. These ongoing reductions include, for example: an unallocated cut to state operations, an indefinite pause to the multiyear child care slot expansion plan, and a reduction to foster care permanent rates (which would be subject to a trigger restoration if revenues are sufficient to fund them in the future).
