The 2025-26 California Spending Plan: Other Provisions

Oct 16, 2025 - State Employee Compensation Legislature Ratified New Agreements With All 21 Bargaining Units. Chapter 5 of 2025 (AB 102, Gabriel) amended the budget to include Control Section 3.90, which established an expectation that the administration would meet and confer in good faith with all 21 of the state’s bargaining units before July 1, 2025 to achieve budgetary savings.

Assessing Community College Programs at State Prisons

Jul 1, 2024 - Some Students Already Have Earned Many CCC Units and a College Degree. To earn an associate degree, students generally need to complete 60 units of coursework. While most incarcerated students at CDCR taking CCC coursework have accumulated fewer than 60  units, some students have accumulated notably more units.

The 2024-25 Spending Plan: Judiciary and Criminal Justice

Sep 10, 2024 - This consists of (1) $77  million (growing to $132  million in 2025-26) from the previously planned deactivation of Chuckawalla Valley State Prison in Blythe, (2) $82  million from the deactivation of 42 housing units across 11 state prisons, and (3) $10  million (growing to $11  million in 2025-26) related to reduced administrative costs resulting from these and previous deactivations.
