Nov 20, 2024 - State Suspended the Proposition   98 Guarantee in 2023 ‑24. The June 2024 budget plan suspended the guarantee in 2023 ‑24 and approved $98.5   billion in funding for schools and community colleges. Although our estimate of General Fund revenue is up compared with the previous estimate, changes in revenue do not directly affect funding when the guarantee is suspended.

Feb 13, 2025 - State Reduced LREBG in 2023 ‑24 to Address Budget Shortfall. The state faced a revenue shortfall in 2023 ‑24, accompanied by a drop in Proposition  98 funding for schools. To help address the shortfall, the June 2023 budget implemented a $1.1  billion (14.3  percent) reduction to the LREBG.

Feb 4, 2026 - Trailer legislation scheduled the payment for 2014 ‑15 (later changed to 2015 ‑16). In October 2010, the state recognized a $1.8  billion increase to its previous estimate of the 2009 ‑10 guarantee. It made an initial payment of $300  million but did not schedule any future payments.
