The Property Tax Inheritance Exclusion

Oct 9, 2017 - Before inheritance, about 70  percent of homes claimed the homeowner ’s exemption, compared to about 40  percent after inheritance. This suggests that many of these homes are being converted from primary residences to other uses.

In December, our office predicted a somewhat large deficit of $68 billion . Since then, recent data has continued to point to the budget problem being larger than the Governor’s budget assumes.
