The 2026-27 Budget: Office of Emergency Services Next Generation 911 System

Feb 27, 2026 - Congress has urged the adoption of IP ‑based technologies in 911 systems since at least 2008. In more recent years, the National 911 Program (within the U.S. Department of Transportation) began working with stakeholders towards a nationwide, interoperable “system of Next Generation 911 systems ” with the goal of connecting 911 systems across state lines.
