The 2025-26 Budget: The California State Payroll System IT Project

Mar 7, 2025 - Classify each processing department based on its total estimated number of FTEs (including from non-processing departments) into one of five classifications: (1) “micro ” with 25-100 FTEs, (2) “small ” with 101-800 FTEs, (3) “medium ” with 801-8,000 FTEs, (4) “large ” with 8,001-17,000 FTEs, and (5) “mega ” with 17,001 or more FTEs.

Mar 6, 2025 - The 2021-22 budget included $5  million General Fund to create a permanent IHSS backup provider system on January 1, 2022, contingent on a policy framework being adopted in statute. However, a policy framework for the permanent backup provider system was not adopted within the 2021-22 budget period, resulting in the initial $5  million allocation going unspent.

Feb 19, 2025 - As shown in Figure  5, with a grant increase of 0.2  percent, grants for all AU sizes in high-cost counties would equal between 42  percent and 46  percent of the FPL for a family one person larger than the AU size, and to slightly lower levels for families in lower-cost counties (from 2024 to 2025, FPL increased about 3  percent year over year).

Feb 21, 2025 - Federal financial penalties for failing to meet the WPR requirements can start at 5  percent of a state ’s annual TANF grant and can increase (up to a maximum penalty of 21  percent) each successive year a state fails to meet the requirements.
