Trends in CalWORKs: Participant Characteristics

Jun 16, 2025 - According to the California Health and Human Services Agency, these non ‑English languages are the top five languages spoken by Californians with limited English proficiency. The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) is required to provide translations of all program materials —including California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs) program materials —in these  languages.

The 2021-22 Budget: Overview of the Governor's Budget

Including this payment, total Proposition  98 funding for schools and community colleges in 2021 ‑22 is $88.1  billion —$60.8  billion from state General Fund and $27.3  billion from local property tax revenue.
