Feb 8, 2022 - The state will cover the cost of a meal up to the combined state and free federal rate, resulting in all meals generating the same total reimbursement for schools. For example, based on the 2021 ‑22  rates, a school would receive a total reimbursement of $3.74 for a lunch served to a student eligible for free lunch —with $3.50  from federal funds and 24 cents from state funds.
