Update on Community College Reserves

Jan 27, 2021 - In contrast to unrestricted reserves, systemwide restricted reserves dropped $41  million (10  percent) from June 30, 2019 to June 20, 2020 —falling to $360  million. Restricted reserves fell from 18  percent of annual restricted expenditures to 16  percent.

The 2023-24 Budget: University of California

Feb 15, 2023 - UC ’s Capital Financial Plan 2021 ‑27 included a $360  million state ‑eligible energy project for the Berkeley campus that was not yet funded. UC ’s Capital Financial Plan 2022 ‑28 includes the $249  million the state authorized for the project last year, but it also identifies $700  million in state ‑eligible project costs not yet funded.

Redesigning California's Adult Education Funding Model

Dec 13, 2022 - Given that students do incur costs to attend school —including transportation, child care, and the opportunity cost of not being able to work while they attend classes —we believe adult learners already have sufficient “skin in the game. ” Though some adult schools would lose fee revenue under this recommendation, the new uniform base rate per student described above would be designed to fully cover providers ’ expected program costs.
