To cover these costs, DCA issued a $10  million loan to the BPPE Fund from the Bureau of Automotive Repair ’s High Polluter Repair or Removal Account in December 2025.

May 10, 2022 - It is headquartered in Washington D.C. and conducts research at several sites nationally and abroad. In California, it has sites in Stanford and Pasadena. According to Carnegie Science, in 2019 ‑20 (the most recent year of data available), it supported a total of 67 researchers across its sites.
